Claire Soltani, LLB - formerly Claire Ganning

Claire is the Principal Solicitor of Iris Law Firm. She has a wealth of legal experience having initially been Called to the Bar as a barrister (non-practising) in 2000 - going on to cross-qualify as a solicitor in 2004.

Having previously worked for a leading UK human rights and immigration law firm, Claire has gained substantial experience in all aspects of these areas of law. She is now recognised nationally for her expertise in her specialist field. Claire is consulted from time to time by Oxford University Press to provide editorial advice on legal publications. Claire can also advise and assist you in family law matters, employment law issues, and general civil claims.

She has assisted in the Home Office NAM project by providing legal advice and training to Home Office staff on several occasions, and has delivered guest lectures to local higher educations institutions, including the University of Northumbria and New College Durham.

Claire is accredited to 'Senior' level by the Solicitors Regulation Authority as part of the SRA/Legal Services Commission Immigration Accreditation Scheme. She is a specialist in Judicial Review proceedings and in advocacy and appellate work, including tribunal representation.

Mahdad Soltani, LLB


Having obtained a law degree from the University of Northumbria, Mahdad has gone on to become a leading North East practitioner in immigration and human rights law, and is the Immigration Manager at Iris Law Firm.

Mahdad joins Iris Law Firm having worked for one of the UK’s largest human rights and immigration law firms. He is accredited to 'senior' level by the Solicitors Regulation Authority as part of the SRA/Legal Services Commission immigration Accreditation Scheme, and can provide specialist and comprehensive advice in relation to all types of application and appeal including:

Applications for UK entry clearance, applications to vary leave, asylum applications and appeals, human rights applications and appeals, and applications under European community legislation. With an enviable knowledge of caselaw and legislation, Mahdad can assist with applications outside the normal scope of the Immigration Rules. Mahdad has enjoyed an enviable success rate in previous litigation. He speaks several languages, including Farsi and Dari.

Laura Buller, LLB

Laura is a trainee solicitor within Iris Law Firm, scheduled to be
admitted to the roll in 2009. Having gained her law degree from the
University of Teesside and completed her Legal Practice Course at the
University of Northumbria, Laura went onto work as a paralegal, prior to
joining Iris Law.

Laura undertakes a wide range of legal work, and has developed extensive
knowledge of conveyancing matters, wills & probate, family law matters.
Laura also undertakes some commercial property work.

Lee Dowling, LLB, LLM (Dunelm)

Lee joined Iris Law Firm in December 2008, having graduated in law from the University of Durham and went on to complete a Master of Laws in commercial law at the University of Northumbria. Thereafter he completed the Bar Vocational Course and was Called to the Bar as a barrister (non-practising) in 2007.

Lee is currently in process of cross-qualifying as a solicitor which is scheduled to see his admission to the roll in 2009.

Lee brings with him a wide ranging yet specialist knowledge in both contentious and non-contentious areas of law, including civil litigation, contract law, insolvency proceedings, commercial law, probate law (including contentious probate matters) employment law, landlord and tenant law, intellectual property law, and family law.

Lee can also advise and assist you in all aspects of financial irregularity claims, E-commerce law, international dispute resolution, European cross-border contacts and EC competition law. Lee is experienced in legal drafting and advocacy, and has negotiated many favourable settlements for his clients, from small scale disputes, to multi-national media and entertainment disputes.
